Snr Project Engineer (Electrical)

The Senior Project Engineer plays a critical leadership role in managing and delivering complex electrical projects, ensuring strict adherence to timelines, budget, safety, and quality standards. This role works closely with the Project Manager and takes ownership of key technical, site, and coordination functions across the full project lifecycle, from planning and execution to completion and handover.

Technical Leadership & Engineering Coordination

  • Lead the technical execution of M&E works ensuring compliance with approved design and industry standards.
  • Review and validate engineering drawings, technical submissions, and method statements prepared by engineers and drafters.
  • Provide technical advice and propose engineering solutions for site issues, escalating major or cost-impacting changes to the Project Manager for approval.
  • Guide Project Engineers and coordinate across disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Provide technical input for the Project Manager’s project plans and schedules.
  • Identify technical constraints, lead-time risks, and engineering bottlenecks early, reporting them to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with procurement, drafting, and subcontractors to ensure technical readiness aligns with the project schedule.

Site Execution, Technical Supervision & Quality Control

  • Oversee daily site activities for M&E works, ensuring compliance with drawings, method statements, and quality standards.
  • Lead technical coordination meetings with subcontractors to resolve engineering issues, while reporting key decisions to the Project Manager.
  • Verify accuracy of engineering progress reports, technical checklists, and inspection records prepared by project engineers.
  • Conduct joint inspections with clients/consultants for technical matters and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support quality and safety compliance by ensuring engineering teams implement preventive measures.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the main technical liaison for consultants, clients, and authoritiesregarding design clarification and engineering compliance.
  • Prepare and present technical explanations, test results, and engineering proposals for review.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on technical requirements, installation methods, and performance tests.

Cost & Procurement Support

  • Review material submissions, technical specifications, and equipment selections to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Provide technical assessments for vendor/supplier proposals, submitting recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Support value engineeringexercises by proposing technical alternatives.

Testing, Commissioning & Technical Handover

  • Lead the technical coordination of Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activitiesacross all systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during T&C and propose corrective actions.
  • Validate technical completeness of O&M manuals and as-built drawings before submission to Project Manager.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Supervise and mentor project engineers, site engineers, and drafters,ensuring adherence to engineering standards and processes.
  • Conduct technical trainingand share best practices within the engineering team.
  • Review work quality of junior engineers and guide them in technical problem-solving.

Risk Management

  • Identify technical risks related to design conflicts, installation feasibility, materials, or interfacing issues.
  • Propose mitigation options and report potential engineering delays or hazards early to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow engineering risk-control measures.
